Are we making it too hard? Are we overthinking things?
I look at where we are, where we have been, and the horizon which is 2014… I start to think we might be losing site of why we are doing all this “stuff” in the first place.
I thought about a Vince Lombardi story – where he took a group of professional football players back to the basics…
Football in hand, the great coach walked to the front of the room, took several seconds to look over the assemblage in silence, held out the pigskin in front of him, and said, “Gentlemen, this is a football.”
So the story continues that Lombardi would then take the team out and show them the field. He’d point out the out-of-bounds lines and the end zones. Then, he would remind the players that the football is to go across the end zone line to score points.
Why would he do this? With a group of professionals? Even I who has never played a down of professional football could have taught that class… it would seem to reason that someone who is playing the game for a living would know the rules of the game. Right?
See where I am going here?
Take a minute and really reflect on why you want to “do” social media at your organization. Why you advocate for it so hard.
Does the WHAT align with the WHY?
