You may have noticed an indicator at the bottom of your Fan Page status updates that shows how many people saw your post. You are probably wondering why this doesn’t match up with the number of fans you currently have.
The reason is Facebook EdgeRank. Thanks to this new(ish) algorithm your fans will not necessarily see your updates. There are three components Facebook takes into account when deciding just how important your updates are, and who all should see them:
- Affinity
- Weight
- Time Decay
So how do you best optimize your updates? The short answer is – know your audience and create good content they want.
